This printer is the best of the best when it comes to networkable laser printers. I've used them all...From Epson to Apple to Brother to HP, and this thing makes all other networkable laser printers pale in comparison. It's cross-platform compatibility is great, making a great solution for both Mac's and PC's.
Without a doubt, the HP 4050TN shines in any office setting, whether it be large or small. It has a built in JetDirect card, and if you have ANY networking experiencing, you have more experience than you need to put this thing on a network. It's so easy to configure and get working, it should almost be a crime.
The second paper tray makes it a charm for offices that need to print on two different types of stock and don't want to constantly be hassled with changing between the two. The manual tray makes it that much more versatile, allowing you to print on just about anything. It can handle quite high workloads and can "take a lickin' and keep on tickin'." I've NEVER had one jam.
The quality of print is amazing, even for a laser printer, and the speed is mind-boggling. Our entire network is 100 Mbps ethernet, and the second you press print, you can hear the rollers start to churn, and your pages are there for inspection in mere seconds.
I've had my run-ins with HP's LaserJets in the past...Mostly with the LaserJet 4 and 5 series, but I have to say...HP has now set the industry standard for networkable laser printers.
The cost/benefit factor for this printer is amazing, as well. With a ballpark price around $1500, it's certainly not cheap, but the productivity and peace of mind you get in return makes it well worth it. All in all, if you look at other printers in the same class, I'm sure you'll find this is the best all-around.
I recommend this printer for ANYONE seeking a high-quality laser printer, especially for a networked office that depends on their printer as a lifeline. You won't be disappointed!
