| kmhinman's Full Review: AcerScan 320U Flatbed Scanner |
About six months ago my parents bought me my scanner as an extra happy for doing well in college. I really did not use it all that much until recently when I took one of my Graphic Design classes. Now that I have had the opportunity to tinker with it I have to say I wish I had started earlier. Not only is it fun, but easy too
Easy, Easy, Easy:
I got the scanner home and immediately was able to follow the instructions and set it up with my computer. Then I unwrapped the software and install it with in minutes on my computer. On a scale of 1 being the hardest and 10 being the easiest to set up, I would give this an easy 9.
The software that it comes with is MiraScan V3.20, which is just the software that communicates between the two and Unleaded Photoexpress 2.0 SE, which is the software that allows you to tinker with the images once scanned. The latter, I would have to say, is what makes it all so easy. The Photoexpress is a simple, plain, straightforward program that will allow anyone to adjust to the nuances of a new scanner.
Price Can't be Beat!
I believe my parents wound up paying $30 for the scanner after a mail-in-rebate, but it still only runs $70 normally. I just can't see myself owning or purchasing something of this nature for much more. I'm sure if I had a little money or need it professionally; I may try something else. But for what I need, this scanner is right up my alley.
Cons:
Have had taken this class I not only learned how to turn the scanner on and off, but also learned some of the technical aspects of scanning good pictures. So of course, we had to use several different scanners to do in class assignments. The one major con of this scanner is speed or better, lack there of. If you are looking for something that will be done in 1.0 seconds flat, you have found the wrong equipment.
For anyone out there looking to buy a good product for an inexpensive price, they won't have to look far for the Acer 320U. This scanner can be an extra-added perk to any home computer system.
