| Aub8's Full Review: Altec Lansing ADA 305 2 Speakers |
These speakers are incredible, really. The clarity is incredible, and the power is more than ample. If you are looking for a pair of kick-ass speakers for your computer, the ADA 305 will do just fine. But of greater interest are the special features that separate these speakers from the rest. First, while this setup includes only two satellites, it offers Dolby Surround sound capabilities through its unique design. As you can see in the picture above, the lower half of each speaker faces forward, while the top half faces towards the side. This allows the speakers to shoot sound waves off to the side so that when they reflect back to your ear, you perceive the sound to be coming from behind and the side, most impressive.
Another tremendous benefit of these speakers is the software that comes with it. You can tweak the sound options through a desktop display, which is very user friendly. One downside is that you can only control a few features such as volume, and the type of sound (stereo, surround, etc.) It would be nice to have some really sophisticated bass and treble controls.
Overall, these speakers are a great buy for the price. In particular, if you have a laptop that you're looking to get a set of speakers for, these are the ones for you because they offer the USB connection. Other speakers of this calibur require a sound card port found only in desktops.
