For quite some time, I was perfectly happy with my Altec Lansing speaker system. They offered excellent sound quality at a good price. However, as time went by, I noticed that something was lacking. I have Creative PC/DVD Encore DXR3 and Sound Blaster Live audio, and was noticing that it was difficult to get the right sound with my old speakers.
The Cambridge Soundworks desktop theater 5.1 digital surround system was the perfect answer. Delivering flawless sound at a reasonable price. The outstanding sound quality has to be heard to be believed. It also makes the best use of all the digital in and outputs. bringing live theater sound to your PC like never before. The master control unit is a joy to use. Attractive and small for such a powerhouse of sound.
I suppose that if I had anything negative to say is that it is difficult at best to set up. The satellite speakers come with nice stands but the are difficult to put together. and the wiring is hard to figure out. Also since the satellite speakers are also wired through the main amplifier, you have to become creative in finding ways to hide the wiring.
All that aside this is an excellent purchase, I think you will be pleased and perhaps amazed at the quality of sound you will get. Mind you, if you do not have a surround capable sound card then there is no point to buying this. but if you are a home theater buff like myself, you will wonder how you ever got along without this one. Beauty, functionality, and the best bang to buck ratio I have seen in a long time. Kudos to You Cambridge soundworks. You have made my computing experience a joy!
