I won't bore you with the complete story because it would look like a miserable complaint session. ...but a simple switch from Embarq DSL through a reseller to Embarq DSL direct from them was promised to take only 1 - 2 days. It stretched into just over 6 days, during which their sales and support staff would lie at every opportunity, seemingly to push their incompetence on to the back of the next person down the line. And this to replace their own existing service!
Even a supervisor swore we would have service on the 3rd day if I would drive to their store to pick up a modem (and called the store to assure they were available). Once at the store, they had no modems and had sold out 2 days prior!
Once finally connected it didn't work. Fortunately I was persistent with tech support because I wouldn't accept their excuse that "the local office was down for repairs." Turns out they incorrectly configured the new service. Wouldn't you think that would be one of the first things to check ... not 75 minutes into the support call!
If they were not the only game in town.....
