lhinz's Full Review: Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo for Windows, Mac
The Putt-Putt series is one of my favorites for children’s software. Putt-Putt saves the Zoo actually captures all three of my girls attention for hours on rainy days.
Putt-Putt is a car driven by a little brown dog. He is charged with the task to find 6 baby animals in the Zoo and return them to their mothers. Putt-Putt travels through the Zoo picking up items that might help him along the way. Each of the animals is lost and Putt-Putt must first find them, then help them get out of what every mess they are in.
The graphics on Putt-Putt are very entertaining. They are also very large. This is nice because my 2-year-old is just learning to use the mouse so it is easy for her to locate items to click on. My two year old enjoys watching her sisters play the game, but I hear her add her two cent in every once in a while about how to help free one of the animals.
I have three girls ages 2, 4, and 6. This game will entertain all three of them in different ways and it has really taught them to work together.
The 2-year-old: The Putt-Putt series is a good story line for her. It is simplistic, but interesting. The story line of baby animals wanting to find their Mommy is something she can relate to. The graphics are also big enough where it is a good game to teach her how to use the mouse.
The 4-year-old: My four-year-old plays this game the most. She is probably the most challenged by it because she understand that she need to use things that she finds to solve problems, but it isn't as obvious to her what to use. I think this is a very good tool to push her creative thinking abilities.
The 6 year old: My 6 year old can actually figure this game out way before it is obvious to me, and that really scares me.
Putt-Putt encourages thinking outside of the box and problem solving. It also has several little games that you can play when you reach different areas. My girls enjoy changing the color of Putt-Putt at the paint shop.
Each time you play this game it is different, so even if you have mastered the game you can still enjoy playing it over and over and over!!!
If you enjoy the Putt-Putt series you might also want to check out Freddie Fish and Pajama Sam.
