| jcgrow's Full Review: Grinnell College |
The endowment of Grinnell College is world famous. As a recent profile in the June 2000 issue of Money magazine states, the endowment is the largest per student of any private liberal arts college in the United States. Joseph Rosenfield, the man who manages the endowment, is touted by the article as "The Best Investor You've Never Heard Of".
Of course, it's not just Rosenfield's genius that makes the Grinnell College endowment what it is. The love of Grinnell almuni for their alma mater is also a huge factor. Speaking for myself, I give every year and every year I give more. The tangible and intangible benefits of a Grinnell College education are so great that I want to make sure that others will be able to experience Grinnell for generations to come.
Because of the small, close-knit nature of the college, work study at Grinnell is a joy. Working students become close with their employers and co-workers in an atmosphere where thinking on the job is respected. Opportunities for stimulating summer internships are available in a wide variety of areas. The financial aid officers are also quite friendly. By the time I left Grinnell, I was on a first-name basis with them.
The Grinnell College tuition is high, but it's worth it, and there's plenty of help for those in true need. Besides I can't think of a better way to invest money than to get a Grinnell education.
