| JDinPA's Full Review: Onkyo DX-C370 6-Disc CD Changer |
We have an Onkyo Compact Disc Player that we have used for the past 2 1/2 years now. It is still right up there with the other newer models in terms of features and sound. We have not had any problems with our Onkyo and would recommend this model to anyone looking for great sound and the ability to insert 6 CD-ROM's for selected play.
In looking to upgrade our entire entertainment system to a big screen and DVD, we will more than likely replace this compact disc player with the DVD system as it would just be a duplication of service. Our Onkyo CD player will go back in it's box and hang out a few years until our kids are old enough to use it respectfully. It is too nice of a unit to get rid off, and if we can figure out how to hook it up with all the other things we've got hooked up, it may just stay there in it's little cubicle! But for right now, it does it's job superbly well!~!!
This Onkyo Compact Disc Player has a 6-disc carousel changer that does more than just hold 6 CD's in their little circular spots. You can add, remove or even replace up to 3 of those discs at a time without stopping the music you've got playing~! The long slim drawer slides out with the slightest push of a button to reveal the CD's you have in there. Seeing which CD's you have in which order makes it extra easy to select the songs you want to hear, and to select them from all of the CD's in the order you want them played.
The drawer displays 3 discs at a time, but by pushing the Disc Skip button (while the drawer is open) the carousel will rotate around so you can load up to 3 more CD's in their trays. A number for each disc is shown in the LED window, with the number of which disc is playing circled on the screen ~ if you do not have 6 CD's loaded, only the numbers of the full trays will show up, not the empty CD trays.
A really nice feature is that you can have instant access to any song on the disc that is playing. There are controls on the front of the CD Player that offer you ten-key direct track access ~ this means that you just press in the track number on either the front panel or on your remote control and you have that song playing. If you want to change from disc to disc (you did not pre-select the song order or disc order) all you have to do is press one of the six front panel disc buttons to go to the disc you want to hear.
Another feature that you will not find on alot of CD players out there is that you can choose which song you want to hear next from any of the discs in the carousel without stopping or interrupting the song that is playing right then. Check it out and see just how many CD players let you do this!
The model gives you a 40-track memory that you can re-set among the 6 CD's in the carousel. Pick a track from disc 1, then off to track 5 on disc 5, then over to track 8 on disc three and so on. Actually this CD player has a better memory than me, as I would forget what I had already picked by the time I got past 10 or 15~ lol
With this Onkyo you also get a choice of Repeat Modes. You get the option to repeat an entire side, all discs, memory, single track, random, and random memory. Maybe you want to fall asleep to music and wake up to it as well, I don't know, but you can repeat and repeat what you want to repeat til the cows come home and go back out~
Some specifications on this Onkyo Compact Disc Player:
*The signal readout system is optical non-contact
*The reading rotation is 500-200 rpm's

*Output level is 2 volts rms
*Power consumption is 13 watts
*The size is (rounded) 18" x 5" x 17"

We have been extremely pleased with this compact disc player. Your sound quality will vary depending on your equipment and speaker performance. This unit can really fill the room with sound with crisp highs and full deep lows - distortion or fuzz has been non-existent, even when cranking the volume up. I think you would be happy owning one of these CD players. They definitely deserve checking out next time you are out shopping at your local electronics store.
Enjoy your music~ :o)
