| jddcp's Full Review: JVC RX-6000V 5.1 Channels Receiver |
I originally purchased a brand new JVC RX-6000VBK on sale for only $189. At that price, I thought (in the words of a famous "godfather") this was a offer I couldn't refuse. Well, some things are two good to be true.
The unit does have ONE coaxial input and ONE optical input. Well, I tried both and set up my DVD player. First I tried Jurassic Park, then Matrix, and finally Gladiator. To my unpleasant surprise the surround sound was more like shift sound. I say that because the sounds did not seamlessly move from one channel to the next. The sounds would shift from one speaker to the next. Very unpleasant indeed... And to top it off, the center channel is extremely weak.
Also, the unit boast 100watts by 5, for a total of 500 watts. I turned this unit up to the maximum and it still did not exceed the amount of sound that I received when turning my new Technics 940 (see review) stereo just about half way. The Technics model has 500 watts also, but unlike the JVC, it sounds like it. Well, as you can guess I took the JVC back and got another stereo which was a little more expensive but definitely worth the increase in price.
