| audiofreaker's Full Review: Sony STR-DE545 5.1 Channels Receiver |
This Sony is a Good Receiver. It has plenty of power (5 x 100 watt din).
It also has the option of 2 pair of front loudspeakers, 1 center loudspeaker, 1 pair of surround speakers and a sub out(for active sub)
Digital:
3 digital inputs (2 optical / 1 coax)
It can select the Best input mode for the Digital inputs (1 optical called TV/SAT and 1 coax and optical for DVD
By a button on the front called Input mode you can select the option Your Self or let the Sony select it for You:
Options For DVD :
Analog = Stereo
Coax or Optical = Digital input
and AUTO (Sony will select the Best Input Available
The Sony is Easy to Setup, but if You mess things up, it has a option to reset the receiver to the Default settings which is Clearly Stated in the Manual.
Excellent manual, the most Important Steps are Clearly Written, If You follow them Step by Step, You certainly will get the Best out off this Receiver.
This Receiver has Practical Setup Modes using a big flat l shuttle with 6 smaller buttons beneath it and two bigger buttons above it to switch, You can go through all the options.
Sound Quality:
The Stereo Sound is Good and Powerful.
The Digital Sound Quality of DTS is Excellent!
Dolby Digital and Dolby Prologic I Sound is Good but not so Breath taken as DTS!
Loudspeakers:
The STR-DE 545 drives even hard to drive speakers.
My speakers have a Low Efficiency but that Doesn't Disturb the Sony STR-DE 545! For the money it is Excellent! I have paid $ 160 Euro for this Receiver and I find it Worth Every Euro!
Disadvantages:
No Digital Output (for MD recorder) and no Phono input.
Phono can be solved buy buying a cheap Phono Pre Amp (Approximately $ 30,-) and Connect it to One of the Inputs still Available
SHORT:
A Good Product and I can Recommend It. My Sony has no Hiss at All in the Sound and it is a Good Product the Money!
Recommended:
Yes
Amount Paid (US$): 160
