| hydraspine's Full Review: Aiwa HP-X222 Consumer Headphones |
Since purchasing this pair of headphones at a local Best Buy retail store, I have looked no further. Thats because not only are these headphones extremely affordable but they provide you with some really good stuff. These headphones can easily outperform pairs which cost in the hundreds range. But don't take my word, go buy them if you are looking for exceptional headphones at an affordable price.
Here are some opinions on what I thought about this pair.
Sound
No doubt these headphones have great sound. I compared them to a more expensive pair and I actually found the sound to be better on these. This is because their frequency response is 5 - 25,000 kps. This is a great frequency response for headphones considering they only cost 30 bucks at most. Don't be fooled by the 38mm drivers, because I also found the bass on these headphones much better and deeper than on a pair with 40mm drivers.
Comfort
Since these headphones are rather gigantic, they are really comfortable. Sometimes you will even forget you have them on! So be careful not to leave them on your head when you leave the house. The cushions are nice and soft which will provide you with great comfort through many hours listening to music.
Portability
The Aiwa's look really stylish and Hi-Fi which is not found on most 30 dollar cans. However though, these headphones are pretty enormous and may make you look like you have 3in ears. I say this because my family always stops to say how funny I look with them on. You may want to take them for a trip outdoors or some other place, but I don't recommend it. I highly recommend them for domestic purposes. These headphones also come with a mute button on the left earcup which can come in handy.
Durability
I've had the Aiwa's for about 2 months now and I don't know of anything breaking off, so I can assume they are reliable and probably won't tear or break for months or years. The headband is not the best but it sure looks hip!
Take a look at the picture of these headphones one more time and try to tell me they don't look good. I beg you, if you have only this much to spend buy these, they are the best in their price range that I have researched for multiple purposes. O ye, I do recommend them
UPDATE: After purchasing a pair of Grado sr-125's these headphones literarly sound like dog feces (to put it in a nice way). Man what astounding sound reproduction the grado's are capable of unleashing is unbelievable. Give them a try... either the sr 60's, 80's and for the higher end 125 +.
