rs500's Full Review: Bang & Olufsen A8 Consumer Headphones
Though I had always seen or read about these earphones, I was never compelled to buy them until I actually had the pleasure of listening to them at their store in Seattle.
After one listen, i had to have them.
Sound Quality
Now, most decent earphones can produce decent midrange and treble frequencies, but they almost always lack midbass definition and low bass extension. This is not the case with the A8's. Once properly positioned in your ear, they reproduce bass/midbass levels on par with some closed-ear headphones.
Of course that doesn't tell the whole story. Using them to listen to music, i noticed details that i had never or could barely notice before. Everything was clear and precise.
Fit
Though they may look strange, the fit is great. The hinged "hook" actually helps to keep the swiveling earpiece optimally positioned in your ear.
Case
The included leather case is very good, protective and has a segmented interior to house the earphones.
Overall
It can be argued that they are too expensive and that no one "needs" earphones this costly, but if the accurate reproduction of your favorite music is important to you, one listen will make you see these as an investment
