| 10486300's Full Review: Panasonic SL-CT470 Personal CD Player |
This is a PHAT portable CD player. You won't be disappointed. So many discmen these days seem to be getting BIGGER with more anti-shock junk, big digital displays, buttons everywhere, etc. The Panasonic SL-CT470 is a return to small, sleek design with a minimum number of useful, intuitive features.
The best thing about this discman is its size - small, thin, and light as a feather. It's hardly bigger than a CD itself! You don't sacrifice quality with size, however. It's solidly constructed and features a full 40 seconds of shock protection, more than anyone could ever need. The buttons on the cover are small but well-placed, with positive clicks when fully depressed. There is a hold function to recall your place on a stopped CD, a repeat tack/disc button, and an EQ button allowing you to select sound modes: XBass, Live, Train (not sure what that is), and Off. Each setting has a noticeable effect on the quality of the sound. The headphone cord also features a volume/CD control built into the cord, a nice touch.
The two AAA batteries which power the discman don't provide a huge amount of battery life, but when you attach the small AA power pack to the back of the CD player, the battery life increases to almost 50 hours! It also features headphone, line out, and AC adaptor jacks. In all, this is a great CD player at a reasonable price. You'll be hard-pressed to find a smaller one out there by a company as reputable as Panasonic and as well-built.
