Having lived with a Siemens 2400 system for far too long I finally gave up as they offered no incentive for me to try their new 8800 system even after acknowledging the previous system is/was a dog.
So after researching and ebaying I found this system in a 4 handset configuration factory remanned for $345 delivered. Expensive? Yes! Far less than new retail though as it would have been over $800 otherwise. Let's face it spending that kind of coin on a home office system is nuts. Even what I spent on this borders on ridiculous.
Bottom line though is this system works. The calls are very clear (corded quality). Ringers can be set loud enough to wake the dead which is a good thing for my usage.
Things I like
Easy to set up and configure (though I have not attempted the voice mail/auto attendant feature yet.
Solidly built
Good range and clarity pretty much unaffected by outside interference
Lit keypads
Lots of control from the base
Up to 8 handsets and mailboxes.
Battery backup in base station
Things I don't like
No spare battery in handset base
Cannot share directories
Hard to "join" a conversation
Not as configurable as the siemens (but than the siemens could not make a reliable call)
Handsets somewhat bulky.
Overall a good if not a great product. One thing I cannot understand is why it's so hard to find a really good cordless system for the home office at a reasonable price.
