| ace3502's Full Review: Panasonic DVD-RV30 DVD Player |
This player is of relatively high quality with a great picture clarity and excellent sound system IF you have the money to buy it. The picture quality is best described as flawless. It is almost like watching it on the big screen but with no hesitations or jumps in the framework. It is a smooth picture beginning to end.
The many different options you have through the remote control also is an added luxury. For those people who would prefer to watch their movie in another language, most videos are equipped with a multi-language option in French, Spanish, and some movies have a few others. You can also add subtitles at the bottom of the screen for those movies that seem to mumble their lines often. The zoom feature if one does not like the widescreen image. It does cut off the ends (left and right sides) of the picture but it does not affect the quality of the movie, you will not miss much. Another would be the multi-angle camera settings. This feature enables you to watch the same scene from different angles. This feature is best utilized when watching movies such as the Matrix or any martial arts movies where you sometimes do not see the full range of movement in the actors.
This product was moderately easy to install. The many different wires and extra "make your picture better by buying these wires" was a bit of a task, also if you are a novice at setting up electronics you may want to have someone, who knows more about it, with you when you install it. Once it is set up, getting started is a little tough. There are many so many different options when you first start a movie that you are a little overwhelmed. Just take it slowly and play with each one to accommodate yourself to it. One feature I enjoyed was if you press stop on the CD while it is playing it will hold your position in the movie. While it is stopped you can go into the options menu and change the language or even add subtitles. While the CD is playing you can also change any of the features I have stated above, you do not have to stop it once you are used to changing your settings.
In order to get this fantastic picture and crisp clear sound you may want to invest in a surround sound system and/or a modern (modern meaning manufactured after 1998) television set. These two add on features are costly, however if you wait until the right time Circuit City and Tweeter frequently have season sales at the beginning and end of each weather season to make room for new models giving the consumer a chance to purchase a quality surround sound system or television set for a reasonable price. I waited until these times to buy my surround sound system and saved myself approximately $190. This player is most certainly of high quality and is worth the money you will pay for it, but again I have to stress it is not cheap.
