Cons: Not for those who have yet to master the VCR
The Bottom Line: Many of the name brand DVD players received high ratings. I chose the Panasonic because this was the company that originally pioneered this technology.

Santa is a jolly old elf though, and because of this, a Panasonic DVD found it's way into his sleigh, and under our tree. Christmas morning was success. The joy of Christmas reigned.
My son quickly tried to install the player, but unfortunately our five year old television could not accommodate such newfangled machinery. Being the swell, independently wealthy parents that we are, we of course purchased a new television. The elves had toiled and troubled, and Santa had hauled this gift all the way from the North Pole. We couldn't let anyone be disappointed.
Fortunately, the new television adapted well, and the Panasonic DVD was soon up and running. Featuring multiple angles and subtitles in either English, French or Spanish, this DVD features enough buttons to amuse and delight any gadget guru.
Crisp, clear pictures, make VHS watching undesirable and virtual surround sound make a movie viewer reluctant to attempt the crowds of the theater.
The cost was a little high, purchased for $279.00 at Best Buy, but the fifty dollar rebate offered helped ease the expense. Some movies are not yet available in DVD format, but that will quickly change. Hopefully, the VHS movie will not go the way of the Beta.
We are pleased with the Panasonic. If you are a Consumer's Report advocate, check the website before purchase. You will be astonished to find many of the name brand DVD players (Sony, Panasonic, Magnavox, etc.) received high ratings.
That is because they were all built with love by Santa's Elves.
