| babylon's Full Review: Pioneer DV-37 DVD Player |
I had been using and enjoying my 3rd generation Toshiba player..However I had become annoyed at the delay in track access as well as some performance quirks with certain DVDs..I have many Elite products, but was not "set" on a Elite unit because of that..I read all the latest Home Theater Magazines and after many excellent reviews of Pioneer DVD players I opted for the 37..I was imediately impressed by the super quick track access,as well as silent loading and playing mechinism..The simply outstanding image through the progressive outputs knocked me over!..However,even if your set is not "progressive" capabable, the picture is fantastic, and the unit offers a dozen picture setting adjustments...I was also pleased with the sound quality in both its analog and digital outputs..I know there are many choices out there right know in DVD players..This unit is considered mid-highend(lacks THX certification),but outperforms The Pioneer THX DV-05 from several years ago..If you can get this unit for between 599 and 749.99 I would call it a no-brainer!There simply isnt another model in its class that can outperform it..However,I would say that if its only available locally to you and is up near the list price of 1000 dollars you might find it hard to justify...
