| barneby's Full Review: Toshiba SD-2300 DVD Player |
I researched DVD players for two weeks before I bought the Toshiba sd-2300. DVD technology is still relatively new and is still growing so I wanted to make sure that I didn't buy a cheesy player that would be useless right after I took it out of the box. I came to no conclusion after I researched so I headed over to the local stores to see which player would be most recommended by the employees. I already had the notion that I would end up buying a Sony, because eveything else I had was already a Sony, but don't let a brand name like Sony fool you. Everywhere I went the Toshiba SD-2300 was recommended, so naturally, I ended up purchasing it. I went home, excited that I had a new toy to play with, and opened up the box and was already amazed at how light the console was. I hooked it up, turned it one, popped in my Matrix DVD and was amazed at the quality of the picture. I was a bit afraid that it would freeze and skip because my friends $50 discounted DVD player constantly skipped, but there was no skipping or freezing of the frames. So, the conclusion that I've come to after owning the DVD player for two months now is that this Toshiba SD-2300 DVD Player is a quality machine that will satisfy any movie buff.
One more item to mention. The whole ruckus about the NUON technology, I think, is overrated at the moment. I'm sure that it will catch on soon, but I've found no need of it and probably will not need the function all that much. I know that it plays games, but I can't see myself buying new controllers and cheesy games that I'll probably never play. So if you don't want a quality DVD player, and a lower model will please you, but you want a game machine along with it...I would recommend that you buy a Sony Playstation 2
