This was the perfect answer to my multi-remote dilemma! I have 4 remotes to operate the A/V in our living room, and it was quite cumbersome to keep track of them all. I was hesitant to spend the money for a $300 remote, so, after a little research, purchased this for $90 after shipping. It works like a charm!
It took about 1 hour to read through and understand the well written instruction book (it's in English, not Technicalese). The unit recognized my TV, VCR and stereo by default, and I had to program the cable box. This was actually quite cool. You push the correct buttons on the remote, then point both remotes at each other so the new unit can learn the buttons from the old remote.
Once programmed, it can be confusing at first as you only have so many buttons to choose from, and each button can have different functions for different equipment. But, the remote comes with handy little stickers that you can place on the remote - you just have to remember which label goes with which device. Once we got used to it, it was pretty easy to use. My wife, who does not naturally take to technology, learned how to use this in only 10 minutes.
I highly recommend this product - for the money, you're not going to find a better device.
