Pros: Good distinct bass.
Cons: A bit uncomfortable, ears get too warm after an hour or so. Quality problems.
The Bottom Line: Don't buy them. They don't last long.

| orpe's Full Review: Beyerdynamic DT-831 Consumer Headphones |
I'm writing this comment kind of post mortem since my beloved DT831s have just died.
I got my DT831s little over a year ago. I bought them after testing many different headphones finding these the best. The sound is very good over the entire range but the bass is what sets them apart from many other headphones. The bass is very distinct so heavy beats etc don't blend or distort the sound.
I was very happy with them until one day i noticed that the volume on the left side was only about 60% of that on the right side. I had to send them in and have them repaired. After 6 weeks or so I got them back and they were working fine again. After a few more months the right side starting glitching and then died. At this point it might be worth noting that I wasn't mistreating them. I only used them at home and didn't carry them around with me. I listen to some music at a pretty loud volume but that's why I got these headphones in the first place.
In summary, the sound is great while the headphones work but because of doubts about quality I'm not buying Beierdynamic phones again and so I can't recommend them.
