procsup's Full Review: Grado SR-125 Professional Headphones
Anyone who has listened to Grado's line of 'phones knows that they are a great way to completely sever yourself from the outside world for a short time. The 125's are no exception. They are extremely detailed for the price and can deliver a punch at almost any volume. The 125's feature good bass response that kicks quite a bit for the price. It should be noted that bass can become a bit muddy at higher volumes. This shouldn't be a problem unless you like to listen at "please make my ears bleed" levels. The midrange of these cans is relatively warm and can hold its own even through some of the most intimate settings such as club recordings (A good example that of a phenomenal recording that can really make these cans sing is Joan Osborne's "Early Recordings"). The high end of the 125's is fairly open but can become harsh during certain types of music like metal or some harder rock cuts. However, their harshness is quick and and they always recover beautifully.
These phones are great for travelling (require an adapter), gaming and they perform very well through home systems as well. They are a fantastic entry into the Grado world for those who (like myself)pine for RS-1's but are not willing to sell furniture to buy them.
