Pros: Good Sound, Comfortable
Cons: Not very portable, thin cord
The Bottom Line: For a good-sounding inexpensive set of headphones, get the TD-61s. If you have a little more money, break down and get the UR-30s.

| mstyles3k's Full Review: Koss TD-61 Headphones |
I have many friends who have purchased the TD-61s in the past. Mainly, because of their reasonable price and the cheap throw-ins: a pair of earbud headphones. While the earbud headphones resemble something used twenty years ago, the TD-61 headphones are far from cheap.
Although I already had a pair of Koss' UR-30 headphones, I tried out the TD-61s because my friends had it. At first, I was disappointed with the lack of bass. After I got used to the sound of the TD-61s (the shape of the headphones is different, which will alter the sound quality), I realizes that the quality really was good. The sound did not leak (which is also good because then I don't have music critics). It was pleasant and enveloping and did not take away from my ability to hear others. Even at relatively high volumes, I could still hear the people around me speak. Having that happen to you is like a double-edged sword because you like to hear your music and only your music, but you also don't want to have to take off your headphones every time somebody asks you a question. Personally, I would have preferred less outside noise, but different people have different tastes.
The one thing I didn't like about these headphones was the thin cord. With a cord that thin, the headphones lose their durablilty and the cords can easily be sliced. Then you have to go through the troubles of getting the headphones repaired or you have to find a new pair of headphones. I really didn't want to have to deal with this, so I constantly found myself treating these headphones like they were an old Monet painting.
All in all, these headphones are great for the average listener. Audiophiles will be more inclined to a different set of headphones, but in this price range, that won't happen. If you want to spend a little more for some better headphones, just buy the Koss UR-30s. They're slightly larger with better sound.
