| lovdbyGod7's Full Review: Sony MDR-CD60 Digital Reference Headphones |
I heard many years ago a comment saying Sony televisions have the best picture quality of any television currently being sold. Since I was in fifth grade or so and we were just doing our study of fact vs. opinion, I promptly told my dad that the man on TV was expressing an opinion. After all, picture quality is a matter of perception, I argued (I had a slightly advanced vocabulary for my age). My dad countered by saying that there are certain things like the number of pixels and the scan/refresh (or something like that) rate that made Sony the best. I disagreed.
Three days ago I was playing a game on my computer and one of my roommates requested that I used headphones. I dont have headphones, I said. He offered me his. Wow! They were, of course, Sony MDR-CD180s. I returned to the house Sunday and began listening to music with them (he wasnt back yet). This is the best sound quality Ive ever heard! Unbelievable!
I promptly went to Wal-Mart, at midnight, for the sole purpose of buying these headphones and ended up with $137 worth of groceries and Christmas presents (like I said, I can be a compulsive buyer at times). Anything that could motivate me to make a midnight run to Wal-Mart must be great!
Surely enough, they are. These Sonys have a wide headband to disperse the weight over much of your head, providing for maximum comfort. In fact, they really dont even need such a wide headband since the phones are so incredibly light! There are soft, velvety ear cushion thingies that completely surround your ear, blocking out external noise (which is often great among my college roommates).
The sound quality is sweet and pure. I cant promise that its entirely these Sonys since it could be in part be my change to Winamp from MusicMatch and RealJukebox (both of which stink!), but Im pretty sure that the largest part of it is the headphones. I never would have guessed that my MP3s were nearly such high quality.
This summer before I came to college my mother suggested that I buy headphones to block out whatever gosh-awful music my roomies would play (I listen only to Oldies, so just about everything else is gosh-awful). I bought some $30 phones that were over with computers in the Wal-Mart electronics department, thinking that these were the only ones that would work with a computer. Having spoken with my roommate, who works there, I know now that they hid these phones over with the CD players, on the other side of the department. For $10 less these headphones are no less than three times better than my old onesand thats no exaggeration.
I highly, highly recommend these to anybody looking for awesome sound quality for an affordable price. You wont be disappointed. Now its time to get back to my studying for finals...what fun....
