Another Reason to go with Phillips

Pros: CD's rarely skip, sound quality is excellent, relatively inexpesive, great for cars.
Cons: Headphones are kind of bulky, some CD-RW's might not work very well with it, lacks some of the features of higher-end models.

You just can't go wrong with Phillips Magnavox, and the AZ7880 stands as another example of their line of fine products.
The market today is flooded with lots of CD players, but I'll have to say that this CD player is the best all-around. It's under a hundred bucks, it comes with a decent pair of headphones, and it'll serve you well for a long time. Also, depending on where you buy it (I bought mine at Costco), it comes with a car kit complete with a cigarette lighter adapter and an a/c adapter.
One of the best features on Phillips' CD players the Dynamic Bass Boost, or DBB, which gives your CDs and extra shot of bass to liven up your tunes. Of course, it's not the same as a sound equalizer found in higher-end models, but it sounds pretty darn good.
Also, the CD player runs perfectly even when jostled about. I've dropped it countless times while driving and the songs still play seamlessly. And the unit's pretty tough, too: it's magnesium coated so it won't melt if you leave it on the dashboard, and its design is just tough to destroy.
The included headphones are a bit bulky, but their sound quality is pretty good for pack-ins. Besides, if you detest them so much, you can always buy a better pair.
I have mixed feelings regarding the CD-RW capabilities of the AZ7880. It works, but sometimes I feel like the CD player is getting "confused." That is, sometimes it will randomly skip from track to track, or it will shut off after the laser searches for a track. Usually burning the CDs at slower speeds fixes the problem, but it can get really annoying since you don't have control over it. But it's really no big deal: after all, burning new CD's doesn't cost much and it's not so much of a hassle.
The AZ7880 is a very good buy: you won't be disappointed. It's slim, under a hundred bucks, lightweight, and comes with all the stuff you need to get started. What've you got to lose?
