Product: Sony DCR-TRV10, Mini DV Format Video Camera
I purchased the TRV10 in October 1999 for $1399 from an Internet
retailor. My purchase experience went ok and I feel I got a good
price for the video camera. Beware of package deals that include
lots of stuff for a bundled price. Often the extra items are over
rated and not worth the additional cost.
The TRV10 is a good all-purpose video camera for amatures. The
pictures are much better than VHS and the camera is easy to use.
Playback on to TV is easy to accomplish because the camera comes
with all the cables most people need.
There are many features on the camera that may not be useful to
the casual video user. Consider the TRV8 if you do not need the
extra video features. The camera comes with a media stick reader
that enables you to transfer still photos saved to the media
stick to your desktop computer.
Still photos from digital video cameras is overrated. Still photo resolution on the TRV10 is equivalent to a low-end digital camera
(vga 480x640). If you need a good digital still photo,
use a high quality digital camera- 2.1 Megapixel or greater.
The TRV10 has a threaded mount for a lens filter. Sony uses a non-standard size that is difficult to locate. Later models are
using a standard mount.
