| kydas's Full Review: Canon Elph2 APS Film Camera |
My wife and I are very active outdoors people along with our three boys, two of whom are active scouts. We recently found ourselves in need of a good all around camera that would be both versatile enough to meet our needs and small enough for backpacking excursions. We DEFINITELY found it in this little gem!
The Canon ELPH2's three picture format selection allows you to choose panoramic, classical or wide angle giving you the creative edge of three cameras in one extremely small package! Cannon claims it to be the smallest of the zoom lens equipped APS cameras, which made it the ideal choice for us as backpackers.
It sports a precision 23-46mm 2x power zoom lens, again allowing you to get as creative as you want to be in composing your shots. We've found Canon's Hybrid Auto-focus system helps keep all of our photos remarkably crisp.
Another feature of the camera we really like is the capability to change film speeds in mid roll to allow for changing light conditions. As any avid backpacker/hiker can attest light conditions are never predictable when your hiking in the woods.
Lastly, I really appreciated the options available for printing date/time data on your shots. I don't care for those annoying dates/times printed on the front of my shot, and as long as your film processor offers this option you can now have it stamped directly on the back, making it much simpler to catalog your shots.
I HIGHLY recommend this camera to even the most advanced photographer shooting in the outdoors!
