Once again Kodak has made a great camera, but the APS film is not as sharp as 35 mm.
What is APS:
APS (Advanced Photo System) is a smaller film format that 35 mm it is 24 mm. This smaller film allows for smaller cameras, and the ability to choice between three picture sizes. First is classic, 4X6", then group, 4x7", and finally panorama, 4x11.5". The film also allows you to switch back and forth at any time.
Size:
This camera is much smaller than almost any 35 mm zoom or point and shoot on the market. However, it is only average when compared to APS cameras. It weighs very little yet feels quality built.
Picture Quality:
The picture quality is great most of the time. Close up pictures of faces and flowers come out with great color and detail. However, pictures of far away scenery and objects are slightly blurry. I used this camera at my prom last year and all the pictures came out great. When it came time for everyone in the limo to line up it for a picture it was great having the panorama to get everybody in. When I showed the pictures to people at school everyone commented on how beautifully clear and colorful the prints were. Some of these great shot have to do with the camera and some the film. However, a lot of it has to do with the camera. The camera has an information exchange feature which takes advantage of a magnetic message being imprinted on the film. The camera tells the developer the lighting condition, (flash on or off), film speed, and proximity of picture subjects. The great close ups are achieved because of a good focus range and an all glass lens. The camera only needs two feet between the lens and your subject, and not many cameras on the market today can claim that range.
Features:
All the modes the camera has are displayed on the LCD screen on top of the camera. The flash has an auto, forced, off, night, and red eye mode. The camera also has a 10 second self timer and 2x zoom lens. The lens is about average for most APS camera but does not get much closer than you could walking a couple of feet, though, it is nice to have when you are at the zoo and the railing does not let you get any closer. The display tells you what film speed, the date or time, and when the battery is going dead.
Overall:
This camera is excellent, and is a good camera to buy when becoming aquatinted with the APS film format. When I bought it I paid over $100 dollars, but now you can find it for well under that amount.
