I bought my Sony cd deck about a year ago. a month after i bought it, the volume knob shorted out. to adjust the volume, you have to spin the knob 10 times to make it a little louder...and half the time it gets softer when you try to turn it up. the idea of this design was good, but its poorly engineered. and then sometimes, when i hit a bump, it'll short out and the volume will skyrocket. i blew my subwoofer because of this! not only that, the bass boost on the actual deck is really distorted on the level 3. not because my speakers cant handle it...the frequency just gets bargled up when you crank it. theres alot of extra noise. after my subwoofer incident, i bought a pioneer which is wonderful. and now, with the new deck, it seems like the song skipped alot, i mean ALOT more! any little bump in the road would skip it. and now with my pioneer, ive only skipped it once when i didnt see a speed bump and hit it going 15 mph. otherwise its never skipped. conclusion: if you dont have alot of money and just want some way to listen to cds in your car, go ahead and buy the sony. but i strongly suggest just saving a little bit of money and buying an aiwa or pioneer. they're much better quality.
