| cpurser's Full Review: Polk Audio CS245 Center Speaker |
The Polk CS245 was my choice of a center channel when I was building my home theater. My goal was great quality sound at an affordable price. I feel I achieved that goal with this speaker. I have been using the CS245 for over a year now, and I have been very pleased with its performance.
A list of things I like about the Polk CS245:
* Solid feeling enclosure. Having a nice, stiff and heavy enclosure ensures that there will be no vibrations discoloring the sound.
* Rubber surrounding the drivers. Unlike the foam surrounds that cheaper speakers use, the rubber will not rot and fall apart.
* Removable grill. Sometimes you just wanna look inside!
* Binding posts. They will handle any kind of connection you want to throw at them.
* Sound. The most important thing!! A speaker can have all the great features in the world, but it don't sound good, then what's the point? The CS245 has a balanced, warm sound that blends wonderfully with my Polk main speakers (check out my review of the RT7).
I have only one complaint, and it is because the CS245 does not have the Tri-Laminate tweeter that my RT7s have. Polk recommends that the speakers contain the same tweeter throughout your system; however, in the real world, I cannot tell the difference between the Tri-Laminate tweeter and the one used here.
So if you are looking for a great center channel at a great price, check out the CS245!
FYI - The rest of the Polk speakers I have in my system are as follows:
Mains: RT7
surrounds: RT f/x
Master Bedroom: RT3
