| schumajb's Full Review: Infinity HPS-250 Speaker |
I bought this sub for my miniture home theater system in my bedroom. It produces more than enough bass for the average user, I also purchased the Infinity HPS-1000 for my main home theater. This one sounds almost as good but lacks some of the punch and the bass isn't quite as deep but it is still better than anything else in it's price range. I don't see how anyone could be disappointed with this subwoofer. It sounds equally good with music as it does with movies.
I like using a separate subwoofer with my stereo system because
1. It sounds much better and
2. It allows you to use smaller less expensive speakers as your main speakers. I purchased a couple Infinity SM 165 bookshelf speakers and use them as my main and surround speakers and they sound better "when used with this subwoofer" than my friends Cervin Wega speakers with 12" woofers. Not only is the sound cleaner with a seperate subwoofer but is is much louder! Since the sub takes away the low bass from your main speakers they can focus more energy producing the highs and mids they were meant to produce and the this subwoofer has a built in 250 watt amp, so you have more power this way as well. In conclusion your highs, mids, and low bass will all sound louder and cleaner when using a seperate subwoofer.
To top it off, you'll pay about the same using my set-up as you would buying an expensive set of main speakers!
