| jkdeible's Full Review: Velodyne CT-120 Subwoofer Speaker |
As happens from time to time, I went to the store to spend a good deal less on a subwoofer than I did in the end. When I heard the CT-120, I knew that I must have it. Since there was a slightly scratched-up floor model going for about $425, I even got lucky on the price.
The CT-120 provides more clean, accurate, low-end than most home users will ever want. This model is not made anymore, but you can still get them over eBay if you don't mind paying for shipping. Set it up with some good bookshelf speakers (I use Polk Rti6's) and you will be pleased.
I have to agree with a previous poster that the quality of the original recording makes a huge difference. If I listen to classic rock on digital radio, I end up turning the CT-120 up or down on every other song. A remote would have been good, since I have to reach behind the sub to adjust it directly; guess I'll end up buying an EQ one of these days.
