| tomdkat's Full Review: Pioneer PDV-LC10 7 in. Portable DVD Player |
I bought this product because I wanted a portable DVD player so I could enjoy DVDs when away from home. I have Pioneer equipment at home and I've been VERY satisfied with it so the PDV-LC10 was a natural choice. I had NO idea of what I was in for when I bought this unit. THe 7" 16x9 LCD display is great and for the first time I can really enjoy anamorphic widescreen DVDs in the best widescreen available to me. The unit is very configurable and easy to configure. It's lightweight and the battery life is 3.5 hours. If you have access to an a/c outlet, you can use that instead of the battery. It has a Dolby Digital/DTS output along with an S-Video output. With these outputs, I could connect the PDV-LC10 to my Pioneer VSX-24TX receiver and use the PDV-LC10 as my main DVD player with full-blown DTS support.
The unit can be configured to use either the default 16x9 widescreen display or a 4x3 letterboxed or 4x3 "Pan & Scan" display. This allows you to tailor the view to the specific DVD being viewed.
I really like the portability and the light weight. About the only thing that doesn't come with the unit is a carrying case for transporting it. I think for the price, I nice carrying case should have been included.
I haven't listened to the output on headphones (yet), but the built-in speakers are adequate.
I you have the means and the desire, I would DEFINITELY recommend this product. If it's out of your budget, there are other good players from which to choose.
