zhouse's Full Review: Bose Lifestyle 30 Theater System
It's been ten years since my family has purchased a brand new home audio system. We bought a Mitsubishi home audio center, but after years of constant use, it finally started to break down. It was great for its time, but it was also big, huge and scary. Not even it's surround sound capabilities worked anymore. So, when my father wanted to buy a new audio system, he went with the Bose Lifestyle 30. And wow, was I IMPRESSED! Small, versatile, and powerful, the Bose Lifestyle 30 was everything we were looking for.
The Lifestyle's receiver is a small music center with built in AM/FM radio and a six-disc CD changer.
It also comes with five tiny Jewel Speakers that are much more powerful than the five foot speakers we have, along with a hideaway Acoustimass subwoofer module. This subwoofer give added bass and depth to your music and movies.
The Lifestyle 30 also includes inputs for 2 video sources, a digital sound source, and a tape deck (or other auxiliary source), which mean you can hook up your VCR and DVD and a tape deck if you don't own any CDs.
Plus, if you have a big house, the Lifestyle 30 is capable of handling two listening zones, which means that you can buy a second set of Bose Speakers and Acoustimass module and set it up in say, your bedroom, and hook it up the same music center as your first system.
Small. Versatile. Powerful. This audio system has it all. It's too bad it's retailed at nearly $3000 because the average consumer may not want to buy a system of this price.
(Okay, as for the update. Bose now has the Lifestyle 50 series available now. This latest addition to their home theatre family is their new flagship home entertainment center. Instead of a regular remote control, it comes with a "personal music center" that allows you to activate the Bose system from ANYWHERE IN YOUR HOUSE! Plus, added enhancements are given to this Lifestyle 50 so that it can even out perform the Lifestyle 30. Now, I can't tell you what to buy since I already own the Lifestyle 30, but I feel it's necessary to at least inform others of a newer, "better" version now available for sale.)
