-Seb-'s Full Review: Bose Lifestyle 30 Theater System
This is a review on the newer home theatre package from Bose. The Lifestyle 50. The LS50 contains many of the same features and the LS30, eg. 5 Jewel Cube speakers, 6 CD changer, Acoustimass Module, etc. The difference between the two is that the LS50 has expansion capabilities. Like most Bose systems, the LS50 is a sleek, and barely noticable system (unless its on of course!). It allows for 5 different zones off the one system. This means that you can have five different sections of your house arrayed with speakers and have all of them playing different things at the same time.
The different zones are easy to control with the new remote: The Personal Music Center, which is a small, hand-held, computer console that works through walls up to 75 feet. It has a touch screen and is very easy to use. It allows you access the different components of the system from anywhere in your house. Another useful feature of the system is the number of speakers playing can be set to the sound affect you want (2,3, or 5). If you are listening to music, a 2-channel speaker set-up is best (in my opinion), and the LS50 allows you to choose how many speakers you want playing at a time. DVDs, and VHS sound great with all 5 speakers playing (there are 2 rear surround speakers), and if you are watching broadcast television that doesn't broadcast in Surround Sound, you can turn the rear speakers off. This makes the Bose LS50 versatile and multipurpose, serving as a home theatre and a very nice home audio system.
The main reason that i opted to get the LS50 instead of the 30 is because i wanted speakers in my bedroom and in the living room as well as the home theatre. If you only want to have speakers in your home theatre then the Lifestyle 30 is a better buy.
My favourite use of this product is replaying the lobby shooting spree in The Matrix, over and over again. The sound is perfectly clear, rich and enjoyable for DVDs and CDs.
