This is one very fine machine. Recording at SP-ET mode was superb. Virtually the same as a recording I made on a brand new FUJI S-VHS tape. I have made recordings from digital cable and,in short, the recording looks like the original.
Rewind and fast forward speeds make you smile...quiet with incredible speed.
Recordings made at the EP speed are also quite impressive.
The unit comes with a device that changes the channels on your cable box in order to record events (when you're not around) that are on different channels. It works well also.
Setup was a snap. I just entered my zip code and went to bed. In the morning the machine had all the codes for VCR plus recording. Setting the date time etc. for program recording is also very easy.
I'm tempted to buy another U795 right now. Some day, like everything else, this machine will no doubt fail. That would be a very sad day. I'd like to have another one waiting in the wings.
