I bought my first phillips vcr and I couldnt beleive the picture I got for the price I paid. I also like the lighted control when it is dark. I would have to say that this vcr is up in the rankings with a sony. The picture is great and I like the tracking features. It records a mean picture. My wife was a little skeptical but she turned out to be extremely happy with it. I think I spend more time on this vcr than I do my sony. Dont get me wrong, Sony makes a nice vcr but they put somewhere around 2 or 3 million buttons on their remote controls. phillips kept their control short and sweet and the quality of the pictures is unbeleivable. Dont waste an more money on the expensive models and be conservative and go with a phillips
