| rabid_penguin's Full Review: Sony Walkman MZ-R37SP Personal MiniDisc Player |
I got a Sony MZ-R37 for Christmas last year and I love it. The R37 comes ready to play minidisks right out of the packaging as long as you have 2 AA batteries. The R37 is easy to understand too, I didn't have to sit and read the instructions forever to figure out how to use it. Just plug in the head phones, press the open button which opens just like a cassete player would, pop in a minidisk and press play. The R37 can record minidisks also. Put in a blank MD or one with some space left on it and either hook it up to your computer with the optical wire and download songs from your computer digitaly, or you can record them from any player with a line out or headphones jack. Just put one end of the cable in the 'line in' jack of of the R37 and put the other end in the 'headphones' or 'line out' jack of any other device that puts out sound and slide the record button up and Viola! The R37 also features a synchronize mode which doesn't allow there to be any silence between when you press play and record on the R37. The R37 also has a saftey feature: if enabled the R37 won't let you turn the volume up above an excessive level. The layout of the 'panel' if you will, is very well oraganized, the only draw back is that the buttons on the 'panel' are kinda small so if you have big fingers it might be hard to press them. The R37 features a hold mode, which when turned on won't let you press any of the buttons. This is a good feature if you are going to be carring it around in your pocket and you don't want to accidently press stop or something. Also i have tried numerous times to get it to skip, it just won't do it. I put it on a table and banged on the table, i put it in my pocket and ran up the stairs. Nothing got it to skip. The R37 is well worth the small price you have to pay to listen to an extrodinary quality of music.
