| mcash257's Full Review: Sony Walkman MZ-R90 Personal MiniDisc Player |
Well, I have had my MZ-R90 for about a month now, and I wonder what I did without it. The thing is nearly indestructible with a lightweight magnesium case and the discs are very durable too. The quality is outstanding, with defined mids and crystal clear highs, on a pair of Grado SR-60s. The menu system takes a bit of getting used to to to more complex things, but all the basic functions (play, fast forward, rewind, pause, stop and record are all real (as opposed to virtual) buttons right on the front panel.
The headphones that come with it are cr*p (but what included headphones aren't?), so get some nice ones like my Grados. You get either 74 or 80 minutes of recording to a disc, depending on what kind you buy. The thing has a really long battery life, when using the internal rechargeable and the external alkaline, you get 29 hours. It is also TINY. It's the size of two MDs with their cases on stacked on top of each other. It has Digital Optical(mini) in and analog in/out, as well as a mic jack.
To close, I would recomend you buy this if you're looking for a great sounding, cool looking, light, tiny, and flexible portable music solution.
