This product is a nightmare to learn to use. You'll need to be a good gambler or guesser to figure out all the quirks with the Lyra and more particularly with its software.
I did not buy the product, but was asked to review it at my job. I got extremely frustrated with it! I would have taken it back after the first half hour had I been the one to purchase it! I would not have called tech support or gotten online help, I would simply have returned the product despite RCA's "Do NOT return to the store" sheet they have in the box.
The documentation is drab and unexciting. Most of it is taken up in a vain attempt to help the user trod through RealJukeBox. The JukeBox version shipped with Lyra is very complicated. There are several buttons whose functions should be automatic and which are far from intuitive. It does not support many normal Windows operations (multiple selection by dragging, drag and drop from My Computer/Explore) and you cannot do much by right clicking.
I review a lot of software. As hard as the RealJukeBox was for me to learn, I think it would be near impossible for a novice user to learn and use effectively. I set up an epinions account because of this product!! It's that bad.
My team and I have also reviewed the Diamond Rio 500. It is an excellent alternative for someone in the market. And, NO, I don't work for Diamond.
