Pros: Their store is five minutes from my house.Online bill payment.
Cons: Most Techs are incompetent. Getting too expensive for the quality of service lately.
The Bottom Line: Their quality and service has slipped so tremendously that even at $29.99 a month per service for the first year, it is just not worth putting up with the glitches.

Ive been a Cablevision subscriber for almost five years. Since January of 2009,their quality and service has been slipping at an alarming rate.
I started out with the "triple play". That combines IO digital tv,Optimum voice phone service, and high-speed broadband internet via cable modem.I have the "silver package" which includes all channels except Cinemax and Showtime.
In the last five months,Ive lost count of the # of times the tv picture "freezes" and "pixelates" along with garbled sound-replete with constant "reboots" that take up to 15 minutes to complete-making it impossible to watch many tv shows without interruption.. The phone required numerous attempts to eliminate the buzzing and crackling sounds, and the internet sometimes hesitates before it "finds the network".
Now I have to exchange my standard cable box for my second tv because its defective. Btw a customer service rep told me that the Cablevision cable boxes are "refurbished" not new.
Dolan-you need to fix your company now. Before FIOS runs you over and Cablevision becomes the GM of cable tv companies.
If FIOS dropped the contract they would deliver a serious blow to Cablevision. I have been told that once one experiences FIOS,they won't go back to Cablevision. Im concerned that FIOS has the lengendary billing problems that Verizon is famous for.
At this point, even if Cablevision lowered the price I still wouldn't be a happy camper.I think I will reduce my service level and give Netflix a try as two of their movies are only $5 a month.
Update-I come home earlier this evening, put my bedroom tv ( standard box) on, tune to my favorite show and it says,"not authorized". I turn the tv and box off;try again. same thing. I check my hi-def tv and its fine.So I called CV and the tech says,"the card is not communicating with the box.take it out;wipe it with a soft cloth and reinsert it." I do that;nothing. I said,"why not just reboot the box? she said,"that won't work and I need a new card". Of course all CV stores and techs are closed till monday because of the holiday weekend. I decide to reboot my bedroom tv;lo and behold it works fine.
A co-worker told me that I should have his friend install "signal boosters" on my cable line. He said that once his friend ( a techie) did so on his system he had no more problems with CV.
Or is this a subtle hint that its time to try FIOS,even with its contract?
