I remember when I could turn on my television without a cable box and get the standard channels, and when there was nothing that I was really interested in, I just turned in off, no big deal. Now I turn on the television and if there is nothing that I am interested in I get very frustrated. This is due to the fact that I am paying all this money a month (without the option of having just standard channels) to receive a bunch of channels that are showing either repeats, infommercials, the same movie 5 hours after it was on....on the same channel, or on another cable station, or just plain crap.
My husband and I thought by purchasing the digital boxes it would be both good for our children due to the various kids channels, and us because all of the movie stations and various other stations that you cannot receive without the digital box such as all of the premium channels. Well it turns out we pay over $100 a month for the boxes, plus the service (need I mention the fact that you cannot receive the service without the box so you are being charged twice!!), and you HAVE to pay for certain packages rather than choosing what channels YOU want......what is that about!!!!!
When we turn on HBO on channel 14 and then channel 200, they have the same movie playing, and the same goes for two other premium channels. It is just absolutely ridiculous!!! For a $100 a month I would expect to see a new movie at least once a night.
I also have a problem with the fact that you have to go out and purchase a television with the average price being $200, then you HAVE to pay an additional amount of money to install cable, OR that television you just bought is as good as trash!!!!
I just believe that cable should, once again, be an option for everyone. You should be able to plug your television in and get at least the local channels, but instead you get a snowy screen. You should have the option to receive the channels that you want, and get what you are paying for.
In closing, I do not mind paying for something that is worth the money. However, when I feel that something CAN be changed that DOES NOT MAKE SENSE, it bothers me and I wind up feeling JIPPED!!!.....DON'T YOU AGREE????
