I took the plunge 2 years ago and obtained a visa from ccb. That was even after I had read several reviews from other "victims". Now I'm sorry. Here's the bottom line: If you want a major credit card and your credit is less than perfect, then go ahead take a look, they're not that bad as long as you remember, they are (ccb) is always right.
When you reach the point like I did and closed out my accout, don't be surprised that you've been assessed your annual membership fee even though, yes, your account is closed. That was the one that pushed me over the edge.
When you make the "ez-payment" by phone or on the web site, just remeber that the fee for that "service" posts first, so if you're close to your credit line, and it goes over, -BAM!!- over limit fee, even though you just paid your card.
Anyone dealing with CCB would be will advised to literally memorize their card holder's agreement and to exercise extreme caution.
Want to call in and talk to someone, their answering device goes on and on and on, and at who's expense? Why it's yours you funny guy, because you called them becaue there is no "toll-free" number.
Want a credit line increase, well that's good, need it now you say, ha-ha-ha, you'll have to wait 48 hours for it show up. -And- each one costs $100.00, with the first you have to pay for, but the other ones are conviently charged to your account.
Want to make that payment by snail mail? Watch that too. They may receive your payment in time, but that doesn't mean they process it when they get it. I mean after all, if we started doing that we couldn't charge back all those late fees, and besides, we'd have to hire more employees: well, we certainly can't have that.....gotta watch those costs....blah blah blah.
Want to go to their website and look at previous charges, hah, we gotcha again, that'll be an extra fee becuase you lost your statement.
The best advice I could give you is : Orchard Bank or Providian.
Thanks,
Trent Doyle
P.S. I have 1 visa and 2 mastercards from CCB. I wish now I didn't.
