Having not done business with RCB for a couple of decades, it was with a certain amount of trepidation that I opened a checking account there. The Bank of America location here in Catoosa, OK is a training facility and that coupled with their penchant for nickel and dimeing you to death with countless charges finally pushed me out the door.
When opening my new account at RCB I was impressed with the many benefits offered, including interest paid on free checking account balances and increased interest paid if you use your debit card twelve times in a month to make purchases.
I thought it a little strange when told that my new RCB debit card would arrive by mail in 5 to 10 business days. BOA had issued a temporary card immediately and my "real" card had arrived within five calendar days.
After two weeks I called the Catoosa RCB location to ask where my debit card was. The pleasant young lady informed me that it might take an additional week to arrive and not to worry.
A month and a day after opening my account I contacted the main bank in Claremore and spoke with a nice lady in Customer Service. She informed me that RCB did not handle their own debit cards and all that records showed was that the info was given to the third party debit card provider two days after I'd opened my account and that no other information was available.
After ending this call I called the Catoosa location where I have my checking account. The nice lady who had opened my account said she would check on it and call me right back.
True to her word she called me back in mere minutes informing me that my debit card information had mysteriously vanished from the queue of accounts to be processed and it would have to be reapplied resulting in another 5 to 10 business day wait for my debit card. How she was able to divine this information when Customer Service at their main location couldn't is one of the truly great mysteries of our time.
When I asked what about the interest credit for using my debit card twelve times in a month to make purchases, she informed that yes I would receive the credit but it would be another month before it would be added to my account.
As a result of the obvious limitations of Rogers County Bank in joining the rest of the banking community in the 21st century, I will probably be opening a checking account soon at the Bank of the Lakes location here in Catoosa.
