tmadel's Full Review: Sid Meier's Civilization 2: Multiplayer (Gold Edit...
This game is what, 4 or 5 years old? And it consistently is the one of the only games I go back and play again and again.
The object of the game: build the best civilization in the world. How to accomplish this feat? You have several alternative paths to follow: you can try to become the strongest military power or you might want to go the scientific discovery route or maybe you'll try to build up your commerce.
As you progress through time, your civilization makes discoveries (or steals them!) which allows you to build different improvements, units or wonders of the world.
The default objective is to be the first player to build a space station, but I always change the rules to bloodlust. The last player standing wins!!!
The graphics are mediocre by today's standard (Civilization: Call to Power by Activision has much better graphics), but the gameplay is can't be topped.
The game provides a clean utilitarian interface. It moves quickly. And the gold edition comes with many scenarios and different advancements.
