It’s been a long time since I reviewed anything again, it’s time to get off my lazy udders and do some game-analysis and playing. The game I will be reviewing today is a fairly old one. Though old, I am sure you will find a scrumptious amount of entertainment from this game. (Eh, it ain’t food, so scrumptious probably isn’t a good word)

Storyline:
The idea is that, sure, you own this group of people, and they’re like, the most unruly bunch of people ever put together as a team. Three men from different lands, different accents, and argue with each other almost entirely throughout the game. But anyway, they sent them to this spy-training facility because of reports of deformed beings (they call it “grisly abominations perpetrated by berserk hybrid creatures. In my description, it’s like a giant, muscular cow with guns and claws!) which surround the site being investigated. These aren’t absolutely proven claims, and that’s why you’re sent in to investigate, and sniff out why the rumors are spreading!
Game Play:
I packed the game out of the box thinking that it’s going to be a great game… I wasn’t disappointed! It had a great storyline, and a great introduction to go with it. So I trampled my mouse, started a new game, and assumed my position in front of the monitor. Gracefully the graphics slid by (at those times, a 32MB card is more than enough for this game), and I started my journey through the game. Spooky, and terrifying, and really challenging (and I stress the “really”). Your characters don’t have “unexpected encounters” or “random encounters” as most RPG are. You encounter enemies as you pass by a particular point on the map. After you destroy the monsters, that area is cleared. So basically, you have limited level up choices, you must follow the lead, and stick with it. Luckily, you don’t have to pass all battles. If you fail a battle, they let you restart the battle again from the beginning (they auto-save it at the start of the battle). So rest be assured, you have another chance at life!
In terms of control, the game is operated entirely by your pet mouse. (Well, or your pet mouse carrying a ball, whichever way you put it, it’s the little object you move around in windows).
In overall, good game, but it can become hard really really quickly.
Music/Sound:
Great spooky music, but repetitive (and you can’t blame them, what do you want? 25 CDs of different songs?!). Stick that parallel with the excellent storyline, it’s really a good combination!
In overall, average to good music.
Graphics:
Never once do I complain about graphics… But alas, with decent video card, it’s really hard for me to complain! So one day, I went forth bravely and had the setting switched into software render mode. Boy was I surprised. It was far from good. Everything was dull, graphics was blocky, and transition was just terrible. Thank god geniuses invented video cards, or we’d all melt from shame!
Conclusion:
Not far to go yet, nothing much more to say. It is an older game after all, and perhaps not popular. By the time you read this, it probably made it’s way to the abandonware list… so, let’s cut the chase and to the main point!
The game has great storyline, good music and good graphics. Operation was smooth. I give it a firm 9/10!
