manky's Full Review: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire for Windows
Being one of those people who will watch the actual tv show, while yelling at the players... I figured this would be a great computer game. At least worth some fun family time. Unfortunately, I was wrong.
The computer version of this game is no where close to what you see on tv. The Fast Finger round randomly puts the "answers" in different orders, and you are supposed to decide which is the right one... Regis's comment throughout the whole game are very similar to those of "You Don't Know Jack" (that alone made it fun for the first 15 minutes) He'll even tell you if no one has chosen the right answer yet.
Once someone gets into the hot seat, they are the only one playing now... and everyone else just sits around bored (unless you decide to play as a team) However, the questions in the program are not as simple as the one's on the show... watching nightly we "would have" gotten hundreds of thousands of dollars. Yet with the game no one is my family has been able to make it past $1,000...
The other feature I just did not understand was that in playing as a group, Regis asked us the exact same question twice in a row... in the same game (we hadn't even turned it off or anything), and then went back to an earlier question the next time...
I am extremely disappointed with this game. We had set aside the afternoon to sit and play this... we were bored after twenty minutes!
The last gripe is the lifelines... they were taken from an internet poll (the audience), and they are fake "Regis Friends" that you don't even get to chose from... (My mom talked to a mechanic about history!)
