| renedv's Full Review: Jura-Capresso C1000 Espresso Machine & Coffee Make... |
The cappuccino, espresso and coffee that comes out of this machine is awesome, and I don't have to leave the comfortable confines of my kitchen. The espresso I make with the Capresso C1000 is just like the kind I used to have when I spent the summer travelling through Europe -- crema and all. Delicious! Although the machine was frustrating to use initially, it's now performing beautifully.
Upon initial use, it's imperative to read and follow the instructions, which are clearly written, exactly. There can be lots of blinking lights, which I found confusing, but they all serve a useful purpose. (Even the salesperson at Williams-Sonoma had some trouble demonstrating the machine.) However, after getting everything straight, making the coffee drink of my choice was a breeze.
Cleaning is easy with the machine. The used grounds are dumped into an easily removable compartment, and rinsing the innards of the machine is done at the touch of a button.
The machine is also a dream for dinner parties. We recently hosted a party and whipping up cappuccino, espresso and coffee for a party of seven was a snap. Perfect cappuccino froth is a cinch, and it was no problem accommodating the decaf crowd thanks to the coffee ground bypass feature. I was able to assemble and plate the dessert AND make the coffee drinks without missing a beat -- a much better experience compared to our old basic Krups which required a separate coffee grinder, expert tamping, and many trial runs for coffee drinks that barely approached the quality of the C1000's output. The C1000 required only one trial run, and although I got tangled up with the hot water rinse function of the machine, the results were worth the trouble.
Unfortunately this kind of automation does not come cheap. But, if you value high-quality coffee drinks, are short on time, and have the money to spare, the C1000 is worth considering.
