Pros: Cools quickly, Very efficient,Everything a room air conditioner should do!!
Cons: Sometimes hunts for the correct cooling mode.
The Bottom Line: Bought one in 2001 and another a week later because of the first one's great performance. Enough said.

Not having central air in our part of Pennsylvania(south-east),is okay if you like the heat. I very much like our new style high efficiency air conditioners from Kenmore. I say new style only because I have never seen an air conditioner that turns itself off...not just fan only mode..like many older units, but actually OFF as in no noise and only the visible digital temperature display. This unit will do this after it cools to the temperature you set it to and will "sample" the air "quality and temperature" about every ten minutes or so. The timer feature, which I didn't read about until season two, allows you to come home to a cool room after being away for up to 24hrs, without having the air on all day. The power saver mode allows the "cycling" feature(on-off-sample-on..etc.).
I have two of these marvels in two different bedrooms, one average and one large, about 15x22. They both work great. The only con I can think about is sometimes the unit "hunts" for the best cooling and may shut down and start right back up again. And on both units which were purchased last year(2001), one week apart,(I liked the first one so much I bought another), starting the 2002 season, both units needed an initial restart to get the compressor to kick on, which may be isolated to storage in my dusty basement. I would highly recommend this particular product and am thinking about another Kenmore for the lower portion of the house. The unit also comes with a remote control which I found to be a non-event as the unit works basically automatically without much intervention. The installation was exceptionally easy as the unit is small and lightweight(much lighter than the older model it replaced). The unit comes with side multi-fold shields that allow placement into bigger windows and hardware to secure both shields and the window from being accidentally opened. I now make it a practice to set the timer for about 8.5 hours after I leave for the day and it has my bigger room cool for me in about 40 minutes(about 15 degrees cooler), although air quality gets better within minutes. Love these units.
