lowell1202's Full Review: General Electric Profile PDW7880G 24 in. Built-in ...
We did a complete remodel and went with all GE Profile Stainless in Kitchen. Replaced a 10 year old Whirlpool which cleaned fine for it's age.
We've had service out three times, during our first month for the same problem. Wash cycles are not filling with enough water to properly wash dishes. Analyzed the problem on the first service call, replaced the float & switch on the second call, and replaced the computer on the 3rd service call.
Bottom line, is GE, in their attempt to get Energy Star Certification is not dispensing enough water for ALL cycles. After the service technician's 3rd visit to attempt to repair the unit, this can be the only conclusion. By stopping the cycle, adding about a gallon of water and continuing, BINGO, the problem goes away and you get clean dishes if you do this for each cycle! Without this manual intervention, the dish washing soap dispenser still has soap in the well AFTER drying cycle. Not good, and NOT sanitary. The electronic controls don't allow overrides, and the float is ONLY activated when an OVERFLOW is sensed, thus you can't trick the float to provide MORE water.. EVERYTHING is set-up properly according to the specs.
