Pros: I have not found a single one
Cons: Great in beginning, but I promise it will be the purchase you will always regret.
The Bottom Line: DO NOT PURCHASE- IT IS A NIGHTMARE- WORTHY ONLY OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SINCE NO ONE, SEARS OR WHIRLPOOL WANTS TO OWN UP TO A FAULTY/DEFECTIVE MACHINE.

| apb4gators's Full Review: Whirlpool Calypso GVW9959K Top Load Washer |
My mother purchased this machine 7/2001 for me as a gift, used it for a few months (which was far from being as grand as it was stated to be by the salesman at Sears), transferred with my job, washer ended up in storage for 14 months. Since then I have had talked myself into that I did not give it time. WRONG! This machine will not clean anything. I have to clean the clothes with small stains in the sink prior to putting the clothes into the washer!I called Sears where I purchased it and was told there was nothing they could do since it was no longer under warranty. I emailed Whirlpool and was told the same thing. Since I had so much invested in this dang machine I choose to continue on with the routine I now call laundry hell. It has been 1 year since I started using this machine from storage, still same dingy clothes, still cleaning prior to washing, still praying things would go differently as I am a single mom with a laughable budget. This machine was supposed to save water, time and energy. HA! Water bill was cheaper by a couple of dollars nothing to write home about, my time and energy is just about exhausted just doing laundry. One load will take an hour or more depending on what buttons you choose. So now that I have enjoyed my time with my machine and have a routine down, the machine decides to stop working. I mean nothing, no power (yes the outlet has power)called Sears, was hung up on twice. Called another outside reputable repair service in town. Very nice gentleman took all my information then asked what type of machine. Of course, the only machines he doesn't work on is the Calypso and Neptune. Said they were extremely poor quality machines with parts that cost so much they would make you cry. Which is what I was doing about then. So, I call a Whirlpool service tech, they work on them, they agreed that the Calypso does not have the best rating and parts are expensive, only problem they couldn't be out for a week. Off again to the yellow pages, after more then a dozen rejections I found one who would work, at least look at, this machine the next day. However, machine started working that night, called and canceled. Now I am on my way again, finished the last load of laundry. Three days later same thing no power, nothing. Next day washing again. Now can you believe this I go to wash clothes and NO POWER! After talking with service techs I come to believe this can not be a good thing! I have no clue as what I am going to do. The service call alone is 70.00, and as stated by the reps who actually work on these machine, parts will likely be ordered. So today, I am calling Sears one more time.
This is the absolute worst thing I have ever done to myself! Sometimes I will just sit at this machine and cry, such a waste of money and no one will listen to all the problems this machine has. Did I mention the cost of the HE detergent? This machine can be the beginning of hell for anyone who purchases one.
